Emperor Fasilides

Fasilides was a very important emperor in the history of Ethiopia. He reigned from 1632 until his death at around 1667, during which he restored Ethiopian power after it had been declining due to internal conflicts. In order to defend the throne from attacks, he also established a new capital at Gondar. In addition, many of the forty-four churches that would later make Gondar famous were started by him, and he also built seven stone bridges in Ethiopia, two of which cross the Blue Nile.
