How to get Ethiopian Passport

This is a post that shows you how to get Ethiopian passport for citizens. Including requirements and duration.

Ethiopian Passport

The requirements to get Ethiopian Passport are:

  1. Recently updated kebele ID
  2. Birth certificate
  3. Payment
First you have to get your ID from your local kebele it should be renewed with in at least one year. Then you should get your birth certificate from Wesagn Kunet at your kebele, unfortunately birth certificate issued from health center is not acceptable due to increased no. of forged files.

To get your birth certificate you will be required to have
  1. Updated ID
  2. 2 Photographs
  3. Payment which is 35 ETB
  4. And you will be asked your full name, date of birth, location of birth, both your parents full name and date of birth. Make sure you have all this information at hand to avoid any inconvenience.
  5. You can get your birth certificate immidiately within a day.
Then you will go to near by immigration center and they will give you appointment to return because currently many people are saturating the immigration center. On your appointment you still have to bring your ID and birth certificate they will request you to copy them then they will take photographs and finger prints. You don't need your own photographs for this step.

Finally you have to pay 600 ETB and your passport will be given to you after its processed. Usually it takes a month or so.
